1968 Mercury Cougar GT-E
Mercury's Shelby Cobra
All GT-Es had a two-tone paint scheme. You could order it in any
1968 Mercury color with the argent trim along the bottom.
The GT-Es had special blacked out headlight-grille assemblies with a
decorative trim piece across the middle.
The early GT-Es came with the ultra-powerful 427 cu in engine.
Later cars had the slightly less desirable 428.
The interior of the GT-E was the full instrumentation version of the
XR-7.
Only the GT-E came with quad exhausts.
The GT-E came with this interesting low-profile dual-snorkel hood
scoop.
This black beauty came with the 427.
The styled steel wheels were the standard wheels on the GT-E.
These period correct Torq-Thrust wheels look perfect on this GT-E.
