My 1977 Corvette

The following photos are of my old 1977 Corvette!

In the summer of 2003, Hal and I went to the home of two of my friends, Jim and Lorette, for a Memorial Day barbecue.  While there, Jim showed me a 1977 Corvette that he was about to sell.  It was in the garage with junk stacked on it and the driver's side door on the back deck.  I wanted it immediately.  Since Jim had recently done a frame-off restoration of his '73 Corvette, I asked him how much he'd charge me to get this one in good running order.  He said he would not do it, but he'd help me do it.  Since then, he has taught me more than I ever thought I'd know about working on cars and saved me thousands of dollars in the process.

Some of my favorite shots are below!

By Lake Michigan in the fall!  (Is this a midlife crisis, or what?)

After two full weekends of work, we finally got the windows to go up AND down!

The engine looks better after just a little cleaning and some paint.

This is what I wanted mine to look like when it was done.

Happiness is...
A Chan in his Vette cruising on a beautiful day!

Before I could finish the Corvette (which is still in process), I found the car of my dreams - a 1967 Mercury Park Lane like the one my parents sold out from under me when I was 6.

The Vette was completed iin April of 2006.  I sold it to my great friend (and fraternity big brother), Dave Gradolf, and his wife, Ann.  To see what the car looks like now, click here
