My love of station wagons started when I was little. The first car I remember was a 1963 Ford Country Squire station wagon that my family owned. We tried a two door (a 1967 Mercury Park Lane - another story for another time when I can find the appropriate pics)which lasted about two years, but mum soon realized that she had to have a wagon if she was going to take us to swim meets all over Virginia and then Mississippi. We got a 1969 Country Squire (yes, with wood panelling). It was fast!!! So fast, my brother used to race Camaros and Firebirds for beer AND HE'D WIN!!
I've had a thing about station wagons for as long as I can remember. Here are some of the reasons why!!

The 1967 Pontiac Executive - my favorite of all!
1959 Pontiac Safari

1967 Pontiac "GTO Clone" Wagon and 1960 Pontiac Safari
(and if anyone cares, that is a real 1967 GTO to the right)

1972 Pontiac Lemans Wagon (above)
(This car has the optional Endura front grill, a $42 option in 1972.)

Another nice 1967 Executive

1969 Ford Country Squire
(This one is exactly like ours, except we had different hubcaps.)

1969 and 1970 Ford Country Squires
(The blue one is a '69, like ours; however, ours was the color of the
'70 on the right.)

Although we do not have any pictures of it, the first car I remember
riding in was my parents' 1963 Ford Country Squire.
It was exactly like this one which was taken from a Time Magazine
published
in 1963.

1971 Ford Torino Hi-Performance Wagon (above)

1964 Chrysler New Yorker wagon

1966 Plymouth Fury II Station Wagon

1971 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442 Wagon - Clones (above and below)

1967 Vista Cruiser

1969 Buick Sport Wagon
(You gotta love those glass roof panels!)

1973 Buick Estate Wagon and a 1993 Buick Estate Wagon

1999 BMW 5-series Wagon
Unfortunately, most American car companies don't feel that there is a place in their line-ups for station wagons. Fortunately though, many of the European and Japanese automakers realize that they can be cooler than SUVs. BMW makes a hot 540i wagon. Now, if they'd only make an M5 wagon (and I had the money to buy one)!!!
But, look! Upon further investigation, I've found that they do now make an M5 wagon!!

WOW!!!!
